West Side Story Medley

Arranged for Flute Quartet

by Mark Lathan

Some of the best known music from Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim’s classic play, based on the story of Romeo and Juliet, is set here for a quartet of consisting of two standard C flutes (both doubling piccolo), alto flute (doubling C Flute), and bass flute. Each part can be programmed separately or they can be performed as a complete set. Originally written for the Los Angeles Flute Quartet in 2006, they will be the highlight of any program!

Audio recordings were performed by East Tennessee’s Cambia Flute Ensemble. Special thanks to Dana Bellino for providing them. Percussion parts on the recordings were added by the Cambia Ensemble.
